From Irelandto a London cellar.
Murphy's Cellar began with one simple idea: create a place where everyone could feel at home.
It started with Aiden Murphy.
Before Murphy's Cellar became a London destination, Aiden Murphy had already created a much-loved local pub in Ireland. His approach was simple: good hospitality, good company and a place where everyone felt welcome.
London, 1955
A business trip changed everything.
In 1955, Aiden travelled to London on business and met Cate, the love of his life. They married, and Aiden made London his new home. In the heart of the city, he opened a new Irish pub in a cellar – the beginning of Murphy's Cellar.
The cellar kept growing.
The pub was an immediate success. Over the years, it developed into a social and entertainment destination while keeping its distinctly Irish spirit.
1960s
Aiden introduced new ways for guests to spend time together, including pool tables and darts. They quickly became part of the Murphy's experience.
1970s
Murphy's Cellar underwent a major transformation. The venue grew into a modern entertainment centre with bowling lanes, shuffleboard and more opportunities for friendly competition.
The games changed.The feeling didn't.
Today, Murphy's Cellar brings immersive activities, social games, food and drinks together under one roof. Friends, families, colleagues and visitors from around the world still come downstairs for the same reason: to spend a good time together.
Laser Tag, Prison Island and Social Gaming may be different from the games of Aiden's early pub, but the idea behind them remains the same – bringing people together.
